Children Health and Food Service Organization (CHFSO) is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political organization registered with Ministry of Economy with registration 4388. CHFSO works in the field of Health and Food in the remote region of Afghanistan. CHFSO envisions to create educational opportunities for girls and women to grow, thrive, and prosper. CHFSO works to empower communities of Afghanistan through literacy and education, especially for girls, promotes peace through education, and conveys the importance of these activities all around the country. CHFSO believes that without educating the girls peace and prosperity is not possible that’s why our mission is to create educational opportunities and livelihood skills that enable Afghans specially girls and women in the remote region of Afghanistan.

Maryam a young and determined 12 year old girl, a student of the 2nd grade from Koro Naw village in Asmar district, a remote and mountainous area where schools were completely out of reach. Before the CBE program began, children in her community grew up without even the basic opportunity to read or write. “I used to watch other children in nearby towns carrying books, and I wished I could be like them,” Maryam remembers.

Sema is a 12-year-old girl and a 5th grade student from Nangalam Tange, a remote village in Dara-e-Pech district of Kunar Province. She lives with her parents and three younger siblings, who are between the ages of 7 and 9. Her father works as a small vendor in the village, while her mother is a housewife.
The family faced a major tragedy when her elder brother - who had been both the breadwinner and Sema’s primary source of learning - passed away. Since then, the family has struggled both financially and emotionally.
Naima Torakai, 24, was born and raised in Nangalam Tange village in Dara-e-Pech district of Kunar Province. Despite many challenges, she completed grade 12 in a rural community with limited educational opportunities. She later taught for two years at a local religious school, but poor facilities and lack of resources made teaching difficult.

Halima Safi was born and raised in a rural village in Dara-e-Pech district of Kunar province. She lives with her parents and five siblings. Her elderly father can no longer work or support the family financially. Halima now supports the family through her work as a CBE teacher. Her father, Mohammad Agha, says she has become the hope of their home.
